Runaway Lyrics Release Day!

It’s out of the box!.

It’s finally here.

Runaway Lyrics is out in the world and I am nervous.

People can buy it. They can read it. What if no one likes it?

(hides book baby from everyone)

Thankfully I was lucky enough to be part of the Frosted Roses Release. The amazing Kendra E. Ardnek put together a blog tour for six new books all based on the same fairy-tale — Snow White and Rose Red.

My Book is the first to release; it’s so much pressure.

It’s good though, because now I can’t hide it. I have a whole host of bloggers all posting about my book today. Also Kendra made me a ton of fancy graphics with my book in them.

Check out the awesome blogs below, to learn all about Runaway Lyrics:

Six Frosted Roses Cover Reveals

So what are the Six Frosted Roses? Six Frosted Roses is the newest collection from the Arista Fairy-tale Retellers Facebook group. Every year this group votes on a fairy-tale to retell and every member is welcome to write their own interpretation of it. This year’s fairy-tale is Snow White and Rose Red.

If you are familiar with it that good for you. If you need a summary then here you go.

Snow White (No relation.) and her sister, Rose Red, live in the forest with their mother. One winter, a talking Bear comes to stay with them. In the summer he leaves and the girls try to follow him.

They meet a dwarf who got his beard caught in a tree and they save him. Then his beard is caught in a fishing line and they save him. Last of all he is picked up by an eagle and carried away, but they save him. Each time the dwarf is ungrateful and mean.

Soon they learn that their bear friend is actually a prince under a curse. The Dwarf cursed him to steal his treasure and the moral is you should never help ungrateful people because they were the villain of the story the whole time.

The bear kills the dwarf and breaks the curse. He askes Snow White to marry him but it’s okay, he has a brother that Rose Red can marry.

So why am I sharing this today? Three reasons:

One: all of these books are on a 99cent preorder offer, for this week only. Then the prices go up.

Two: They are all super pretty covers that deserve to be shown off.

Three: I wrote one of them! Yes the long awaited first novel from C.O. Bonham is coming and you can see the cover, back cover description and learn the release date right here. So let’s quickly go through the first five and I’ll save the best for last.

Snow loves music. She has spent her entire life learning new instruments and memorizing new pieces, only to while away her life in a country manor with only her mother and twin sister as company. If only she could get out on her own and play in front of a real audience.

Rose loves magic. The things she can do with music would amaze her twin sister, but whenever she shows her, Snow quickly forgets as if the event had never happened. If only Rose could get out on her own and work some real magic.

When an airship crashes near their home, Snow’s magical abilities awaken. Together the sisters must learn to use their magic, rescue a pair of cursed princes, and discover their own secrets.

Gift for Christmas!

Hello everyone, I know it’s been a light month for blog posts but that’s because I’ve been busy. I’m editing a novel. Hoping to have it ready for beta readers soon. I will tell you all more about it after the new year.

Right now I have a different book to tell you about. A new book. A free book. But still, my book.

I’ve written a Christmas story and I decided to throw it up on Amazon.

Free Book: Dec 21st-25th.
Join Annalee as she searches for the perfect way to light the orphanage’s tree. A sci-fi/steampunk/dystopian adventure for the whole family.

It was mostly an experiment because I know I want to self publish so I decided to play with the Kindle Direct Publishing platform and it all looked so easy that I was like, “I should try this.” The question was what to publish? So I looked at my November project and pulled out a Christmas subplot that I added for word count reasons, (NaNo, am I right?) and just formatted it as an ebook.

Here’s the cover, I designed it myself. I can’t take credit for the art though. I Frankensteined this cover in Cavna using elements I found on Pixabay.com. Credit for each element used is on the copyright page of the book.

Lights for Christmas

A Steampunk Conspiracy Christmas Story

By: C.O. Bonham

It’s Annalee’s last Christmas at Miss Audrey’s home for children, and she wants to make it extra special for her family. She also needs to find a purpose for her life before the government assigns her to a boring factory job. A chance encounter on the street and an adventurous detective may provide both.

The price will normally be 99 cents, but because it’s Christmas I decided to make it free. Starting today and going through Christmas you can download my first solo published work for the low, low price of absolutely nothing.

It’s also in the Kindle Unlimited program so if you you are a subscriber and you want a little holiday cheer after the free period ends, you’re in luck.

Get it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R2GVGZ5/

Add it to your Goodreads shelf here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56354102

If you do decide to read it, would you consider leaving an honest review. I would love to know what you thought.

“Wait,” I here you saying, “what is the Steampunk Conspiracy?”

It’s the title of the series I’m going to focus on publishing in 2021. The books are in progress and I’ll update you as I get them written. I won’t talk about them too much until I get them mostly finalized because I don’t want to get locked into keeping something that needs cut, character, subplot, world building element etc., just because I mentioned it here.

So in the coming year be prepared to hear more about my own writing along with all the other great books I plan on featuring.

C.O. Bonham dot com

If you have been on the site recently you may have noticed a change.

The dolphin18cb is gone. The website is now cobonham.com.

 “Why?” you ask.

Well, random musings from my addled mind really weren’t cutting it. I needed more focus, better branding if you will.

I’ve felt like I’ve been floundering on the blog. Just writing about whatever struck my fancy wasn’t working. I started this blog to promote myself. But what was I really promoting?

 Dolphin18cb isn’t a pen name it’s a user name.

Enter the Pen name C.O. Bonham.

 Why a pen name?

The pen name was born out of two thing.

 1) I’ve written two unpublished novels and a handful of short stories, all with one thing in common. Male POVs. That’s right I write about boys, and someone who I trust and respect told me that boys don’t want to read books written by Cathrine Opal Bonham.

Could I have asked for a more feminine name?

This is a great lead-in to thing two:

 2) You may have noticed that Cathrine is spelled with out an E in the middle. It’s not wrong, I’ve checked my birth certificate.

I was content to be unique until I took some bad advice from a job fair flier. “A professional email address should be yourname@mailservice.com so I created an email with no e in Cathrine.

And you guessed it, the only emails I got were spam. My potential employers couldn’t read well enough or didn’t care enough to spell my name right.

So there it is, you have my weird writing habits and my odd spelling to thank for cobonham.com.

A decidedly book-centric website, for promoting my works and the works of others. No more Randomness, no more addled mind. But dolphins are still nice, yes I’ll find away to work in dolphins.

Keep watching this spot as I gradually make updates and tweak my brand.
