My Dive in Review:
Flight of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse is an amazing story about a woman’s search for meaning.
At the end of Mark of the Raven we leave Selene in a hurried escape from her home, leaving behind her family and everything she knows to begin an unplanned marriage to Lord Damien. This sequel is everything I hoped it would be. It was emotional and thought provoking. It explores the desire we all have to know why we are here and what we are meant to do.
I am not a romance reader but I found myself deeply invested in whether Selene and Damien would make the most of their marriage. This is one of the few books that delves into relationships right. It realistically shows how hard they can be, because you are never really sure what the other person is thinking.
But the true stand out character of this book was Selene’s sister Amara. She struck me as unnecessarily antagonistic towards her older sister who was never anything but loving. In this book Amara takes on the responsibilities of being heir to house Ravenwood. She realizes the struggle her sister had to deal with but takes it on in order to protect her younger sister. I found the circular nature of her character arc satisfying and ultimately redemptive for the character. I went from hating her to wishing she had a bigger part in the book, though her part is still really important.
The ending was both sorrowful and hopeful. I am looking forward to the next installment of this saga.

Hallo, Hallo, again!!
Ah!! We are on the same blog tour, then! I thought we might be but I hadn’t double-checked the schedule as I literally just decided to do a random search for the book titles to see where I could go hoppin’ through the blogosphere via my WP Reader!! Sometimes it is good to switch things up a bit and interact with new bloggers!!
The redemptive story arc for Amara and Selene was what tethered me into the scope of this second installment but it was how Damien anchoured himself to Selene which won me over the most for how Busse portrayed their relationship because he was in the worst possible situation to be in as a newly married bloke! And yet, through her vision of this series, she shows how grace, mercy and redemption can take-on different elements of industry and work towards the greater good whilst still able to develop realistic characters who feel as if they are living in our composite of a world next to our own realities.
I was on the fence about how I truly felt about Amara but I felt I might have hinted towards my feelings on my review – she was betwixt a rock and a hard place with Lady Ravenwood and thereby her choices reflect that hard position she was constantly being placed inside. I felt Busse did her character justice but also allowed the reader to soften their opinion of her as the story progressed.
Truly lovely to find another reader who shared my own sentiments and felt this was an #unputdownable read!! Many bookish blessings to you!!
